The Akai GX-8 is a digital sampler and synthesizer workstation released by the Japanese company Akai in the late 1980s. It allowed users to sample audio and manipulate it using various synthesizer and sequencing features. The GX-8 featured 8-bit sampling at a sampling rate of up to 35 kHz, a built-in synthesizer section with 64 voices, and a sequencing and arranging function with 128 sequences and 256 patterns. This pioneering technology paved the way for modern music production tools and opened up new possibilities for electronic music creation.
